TOPIC:
Here’s your chance to learn about an innovative project with unique design features to both enhance habitat for endangered species and protect people and property from flooding. Jill Ogren, P.E. and John Farhar, from the San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works, will present information on the Arroyo Grande Creek Channel Waterway Management Program (WMP) and related Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR). The WMP provides a comprehensive set of actions designed to restore the capacity of the leveed lower three miles of Arroyo Grande Creek Channel and the Los Berros Creek Diversion Channel to provide flood protection up to a 20-year storm event while simultaneously enhancing water quality and sensitive species habitat within the managed channel. Development of the WMP was done cooperatively with the community, non-profit organizations, and regulatory agencies in order to facilitate successful implementation.

Let’s make it official! Our newly elected officers for 2010-11 will also be installed this month. By the way, our Branch is still looking for a Webmaster and a Public Relations Coordinator - it would be great to have two people to take the lead on updating our Branch information and sharing our activities with the media. Thanks for considering!
